It takes a village to raise a healthy child, we are so lucky to be a part of your journey!Whether you are a first time parent or seasoned parent, we know how challenging the first few days and weeks home with a new baby can be.
Research indicates that more than 90 percent of families can use some additional support. Family Connects Watauga nurses are trained to answer your questions and connect you with the support you need. The program is simple — you will get a phone call to schedule your appointment, you can choose a date and time that works for you, a registered nurse will conduct a telehealth visit (phone or virtually) at 3 weeks postpartum to check on mom, baby, and the whole family. There is no cost, and anyone can participate.
In the event a family is mourning the loss of a baby, a nurse can provide a visit to offer support and resources for the grieving family.
Our Model
The Family Connects model brings together Families, Healthcare Providers and Community Agencies to give babies their best start possible. Research has shown that when families participate in Family Connects, mothers feel less anxious, parents learn about quality child care options and babies need less emergency care at hospitals. Babies, families and the whole community benefits.
